In the modern world, many things have been forgotten through the mercy of time. Folktales and parables are now simply passing thoughts, and the people who tell them are now graying in age. And just like her town, the area was suddenly making a big change that was neither good to the people or the environment. Lihal tells a story of a young muslim woman named Samara Lihal whose family has been tightly knotted with the world Mindanao knew before the West had taken over their shine. Well-versed in her family’s oral traditions and tales while blessed with a sixth sense, Samara finds her ways on how she can continue to embrace and protect her heritage, history, and identity against the ever changing world beyond her. Changes against the land, the prejudices against her faith, and the dilemma of letting go of traditions stands before her. Will Samara ever find herself or will she let a part of her go for the sake of modernity?

Synopsis

Lihal’s mission is to create a proper representation of Moro culture and to shed light on how Bangsamoro is on the road of healing. The people of Bangsamoro are culturally diverse and are rich in history as they hold roots of what the country once was before colonization. We strive to educate and spread awareness that can create an impact on the future generations to come.

We have envisioned a media that helps the youth open their hearts to the culture and heritage of the Moro people. We see the youth becoming inclusive and engaging in cultural exchanges that can help us bridge people together.
